Program
director Jeffrey Townsend's
work on feature films and TV shows spanned 20 years, and
included creative partnerships with Martin Scorsese, John Sayles, Paul
Mazursky, James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and others. The resulting
films and series include Sleepless
in Seattle, After Hours, The
Fabulous Baker Boys, and The Tracey Ullman Show.
Although he's known primarily for his work
as a production designer and second unit director on features, Townsend
also won an Emmy for writing early episodes of Rugrats,
an Art Directors of Los Angeles Award for designing the first title
sequence for The
Tracey Ullman Show, and a Clio for directing commercials.
His
early involvement with The Simpsons included working
one-on-one with Matt Groening developing the characters, casting and directing
the voice actors for the four speaking members of the family and choosing the sickly yellow color for
their 'toon skin. You can learn more about Townsend's production
