studio feature film experience
Program
director Jeffrey Townsend's
work on feature films and TV shows spanned 20 years, and
included creative partnerships with Martin Scorsese, John Sayles, Paul
Mazursky, James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and others. The resulting
films and series include Sleepless
in Seattle, After Hours, The
Fabulous Baker Boys, and The Tracey Ullman Show. Although he most frequently served
as both production designer and second unit director on features, Townsend
also won an Emmy for writing episodes of Rugrats,
an Art Directors of Los Angeles award for the original title
sequence for The
Tracey Ullman Show, and a Clio for directing commercials. His
early involvement with The Simpsons included working
with Matt Groening one-on-one to develop the characters, casting and directing
the voice actors and choosing the sickly yellow color for
their 'toon skin. You can learn more about Townsend's production
credits here.
Townsend owns a marketing and video production firm called Fancy Logo,
and lives in Walla Walla, Washington, with his wife and children.
Instructor and program coordinator Sarah Koenigsberg owns a video and photography business called Square Pixel Media. When she's not working a boot camp, she can be spotted carrying her filmmaking gear to the unlikeliest places in order to “get the shot.”
